Puha and Tata win in Hamilton as Tata takes DPNZ lead
Haupai Puha won Event Seven and Jonny Tata took Event Eight, moving Tata into the DPNZ Order of Merit lead with his second title of 2025.
PDC’s report dated 28 May 2025 recorded DPNZ ProTour titles for Haupai Puha and Jonny Tata in Hamilton. Puha earned his sixth series title, while Tata’s second win of the season moved him to the top of the Order of Merit.
Puha gives up four legs in the closing three matches
Puha beat Jaymie Hilton-Jones 5–0 in the Event Seven quarter-finals and David Adams 6–2 in the semi-finals. A 7–2 final victory over John Hurring completed the run. Across those three matches, his opponents won only four legs between them.
Tata’s whitewash follows a deciding-leg test
Tata won Event Eight with a 7–0 final against Mark Cleaver, but the semi-final had been much closer: Anthony Benitez took him to a deciding leg before Tata won 6–5.
The title followed his Event Six victory in Nelson the previous month. PDC reported that he overtook Cleaver in the standings. The final therefore brought together both the eventual winner and the player he displaced at the top.
Three New Zealand Darts Masters places confirmed
PDC confirmed Tata, Cleaver and Hurring for the SkyCity New Zealand Darts Masters, then scheduled for 15–16 August at Auckland’s SparkArena. The announcement included both Hamilton runners-up alongside Tata.
