Four contenders and two matches: the 2025 Premier League finale
The pre-event picture at The O2: Littler faced Price, while Humphries and Aspinall pursued a first Premier League title.
PDC’s preview dated 29 May 2025 set out a four-player finale at London’s The O2. Luke Littler was drawn against Gerwyn Price, with Luke Humphries facing Nathan Aspinall.
Littler’s league record meets a knockout test
Littler finished the 16-night league phase with 45 points and six nightly victories. PDC reported that a successful defence would make him the third player to retain the title, after Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen.
Price, the 2023 runner-up, stood between him and another final. Littler’s league figures explained his position entering the night; the knockout format still required him to win the matches ahead.
Different routes to a first title
Humphries qualified in second place after reaching the previous year’s final. Aspinall secured his spot by beating Michael van Gerwen on Night 16 and finished third, ahead of Price. It was his first Play-Off appearance since 2021.
Their semi-final brought together sustained league success and a qualification secured on the last night. Both were seeking their first Premier League crown.
Ten legs, then eleven
The announced semi-finals were best of 19 legs and the final best of 21: first to ten, then first to eleven. The league campaign had established the field, leaving two knockout wins to decide the title.
